A Message from Governor Gray Davis on Professor Yaghi’s Nobel Prize

Author: Atoco

We’re honored to share a statement from Governor Gray Davis, Ex-Governor of California, in the wake of last week’s Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to our founder, Professor Omar Yaghi.

We’re deeply grateful for the Governor’s support and his recognition of the pioneering work being led by Professor Yaghi and Dr. Samer Taha at Atoco, as they continue to translate breakthrough science into real-world impact.

Statement from Governor Gray Davis

“Omar exemplifies the American Dream and embodies the best of America. His journey took him from Amman, Jordan to various universities around the United States and finally to the University of California Berkeley. I am so grateful the Nobel Prize Committee recognized his genius and I am proud to call him a friend for the last 18 years.

Omar’s work has world-changing applications ranging from water harvesting to carbon capture. Omar partnered with a brilliant entrepreneur, Dr. Samer Taha, to co-found Atoco and lead the commercialization of Omar’s Nobel prize-winning research. I’m proud to work with this groundbreaking company, with Professor Yaghi, Dr. Taha, and the Atoco team.”
