Decarbonizing Shipping Forum – Rotterdam 2026

About the Decarbonizing Shipping Forum

The Decarbonizing Shipping Forum is a recurring international conference organized by ALJ Group, dedicated to advancing the decarbonization of the global maritime industry. It serves as a high-level platform where maritime executives, sustainability experts, technology innovators, policymakers, and industry professionals converge to tackle one of the sector’s most pressing challenges: reducing CO2 emissions while maintaining operational and economic viability.

The forum addresses the full spectrum of maritime decarbonization, including onboard carbon capture where Atoco offer disruptive innovations.

This year, the 7th Decarbonizing Shipping Forum will take place in Rotterdam from June 22–23rd, 2026.

Atoco Joins the Forum this year

Why This Matters?

The maritime sector accounts for a significant share of global greenhouse gas emissions, and it remains one of the hardest industries to decarbonize. The International Maritime Organization has set binding targets — a 40% reduction in carbon intensity by 2030 and net-zero by 2050 — yet the path there is far from straightforward. Onboard Carbon Capture and Storage (OCCS) has emerged as one of the most credible transitional technologies available, enabling vessels to reduce CO2 emissions without abandoning existing fuel infrastructure.

Yet widespread adoption has been held back by one persistent barrier: cost.

Leveraging Nobel Prize-winning science by our Founder and Chief Science Officer, Nobel laureate Prof. Omar Yaghi, our carbon capture technology addresses that barrier head-on: cost.
