Atoco, Inc. is a startup company founded by the distinguished scientist Prof. Omar Yaghi, the inventor of MOF and COF chemistry. Atoco is currently working on technologies in the fields of atmospheric water harvesting and CO2 capture. Learn more about Atoco.

 

This position will join the initial small startup R&D team that will be working on technology commercialization and technology transfer from the University of California, Berkeley. This position will help develop and build different systems and evaluate overall performance in water vapor and CO2 capture.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work in a fast-paced environment to build, analyze, and optimize different multi-variable thermofluidic and vacuum systems.
  • Evaluate system and material stability to various process conditions and at different working conditions.
  • Draw mechanical assemblies for test setups, prototype, and final product using CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks).
  • Build prototypes for characterizing and improving the system components.
  • Write code and build electronic controllers to automate data collection and analysis and control system parts.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree with strong background in Mechanical Engineering or other related background from an accredited institution, along with a demonstrated record of achievement in industry and research.
  • Prior experience in machining and electronic automation.
  • Prior experience drawing mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Strong research background, including peer-reviewed publications.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Follow procedures with keen attention to details and approach problems with critical thinking.
  • A track record of successful scale-up prototypes or experimentation.
