Atoco, Inc. is a startup company founded by the distinguished scientist Prof. Omar Yaghi, the inventor of MOF and COF chemistry. Atoco is currently working on technologies in the fields of atmospheric water harvesting and CO2 capture. Learn more about Atoco.

 

This position will join the R&D team that will be working on technology development and commercialization of different water vapor and CO2 capture systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and test mechatronics-based prototypes systems, bringing concepts to life from initial design through prototyping and production planning.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to build, analyze, and optimize mechanical fluidic and thermal systems including pumps, vacuum chambers, and heat exchangers
  • Evaluate system and material stability to various process conditions and at different working conditions.
  • Create CAD models for components and assemblies (SolidWorks preferred) and collaborate with venders for specific manufactured components.
  • Create prototype fabrication drawings and maintain system-level assemblies in CAD.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree with strong background in Mechanical Engineering or other related background from an accredited institution, along with a demonstrated record of achievement in industry and research
  • Strong hands-on experience in building mechanical prototypes (fab shop experience a plus)
  • Experience with building and packaging fluidic and thermal system prototypes
  • Expertise with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and familiarity with associated PLM/PDM systems
  • Familiarity with drawing standards such as ASME Y14.5 and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing practices
  • Self-managed and driven. Thrives on challenges and getting things done.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Follow procedures with keen attention to details and approach problems with critical thinking.
  • A track record of successful scale-up prototypes or experimentation
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
