Reticular Science Prize
The Reticular Science Prize is a prestigious international award presided over by Nobel Laureate Prof. Omar Yaghi and established and sponsored by Atoco, Inc. to recognize outstanding contributions to the science, engineering, computing, and AI of molecularly defined materials and their applications.
This biennial prize consists of a monetary award of US $5,000, an award certificate and a gold medal (ca. 50 g). It is given to honor a researcher who has made significant advances in modular molecular materials, including (but not limited to) metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs), and other organic and inorganic solids.
The prize will be awarded for the most creative innovation or discovery preferably made within the preceding seven years of the nomination deadline.
2026 Reticular Science Prize
The inaugural Reticular Science Prize has been awarded to Prof. Omar Farha, in recognition of his pioneering contributions to the field of metal-organic frameworks, advancing the frontiers of reticular chemistry through a prolific and deeply influential body of fundamental research.

The recipient of the Reticular Science Prize is chosen by the same independent selection committee, comprising distinguished scientists in the field.

2028 Reticular Science Prize
The submissions for the Reticular Science Prize 2028 will open on July 15, 2027.
The nominee must have made an outstanding contribution to the discovery and/or innovation in the science, engineering, computing, and/or AI of modular molecular systems through original research.
Nominations are open to scientists and engineers at career stages beyond 10 years from receiving their doctorate degree. Early career researchers are encouraged to seek nomination under the Reticular Science Prize for Emerging Scholars and Innovators.
The prize will be awarded to an individual who is responsible for the discovery and/or innovation in the field.
Nomination Form: A complete nomination form listing the candidate and nominator and their contact information, a description of the nominee’s innovation or discovery, list of at most three relevant publication(s). Each nomination will be valid for three cycles with the possibility of updating the nomination in each of the cycles, provided such updates are made by the submission deadline, October 1, every two years.
Curriculum Vitae: A CV of the nominee and a list of publications for the seven years preceding the year of nomination.
Supporting Letters: Two letters (each no more than 500 words) from experts in the field, commenting on the significance of the nominee’s work.

The Reticular Science Prize will be awarded at the International MOF Conference being held on a biannual basis. The inaugural Prize was given in New Orleans MOF-2026 and the next prize will be given at MOF-2028, where the recipient will deliver an award lecture on their research.
